What a great looking presentation. So good to have children who are curious and encouraged to be ready with questions.

Toni,
This year, my residency is being funded through Davis Magnet School via a grant their teachers wrote. (I'm not actually sure the funding source this year).
We piloted this project last year through funding from the Ask for More Arts Collaborative, a project of Parents for Public Schools of Jackson. PPSJ had grant funding from the Ford Foundation, among others, to bring artists into schools.
I have a long history of working with Davis Magnet because it is the school my sons attended. Over the years, I partnered on many different arts projects: writing, bookmaking, quilting, papermaking, etc. I feel very fortunate to have forged a partnership with a school that is doing so much to foster inquiry and creativity.

Children do keep us honest and on our toes. As a retired educator, I can assure you that your tiredness will be well worth all the effort.

That's wonderful work you're doing with those students! Did you become "artist-in-residence" through a county or state program?
