Wow! Check Out These Photos

Author: Second graders at Davis Magnet IB World School took these photographs as part of a project called Davis on the Map.
I am not going to write captions here or identify the student photographers. These came from a quick pass through many (but not all) of the photographs.
Some of the great photography observations: “It is easier to take photographs in the shade than in bright sunlight.” “I noticed the star pattern. I didn’t see it when I wasn’t looking through the camera.”
Students studied the photography of Roland Freeman before they began taking their own pictures. They also spent time looking at books with many different kinds of photographs. I think the preparation shows.

I am loving this project! The kids are really using their eyes and photographing as artists. Inspiring!
I think there are many future artists at Davis! Great work.
I’m jealous. Maybe I’ll walk around our new neighborhood once we are settled in.
That is a good idea Patty. I’ve lived in my neighborhood for many years and have not looked at it through the lens of a camera. Great job Davis 2nd graders! What IB students you are!
