Quiet Thanksgiving

A slight setback in my recovery led to the cancellation of two planned trips: the first, home to my parents for Thanksgiving and the second to Main Street Books in Hattiesburg for an Author’s Festival.

I was disappointed to miss Thanksgiving at home — my parents live in the woods and always put on a terrific spread. We have often sat down with 20 or more guests. This year they were down to three and we had five at our table.

I thought we might just pretend it was like any other day and eat regular food, but the boys insisted on tradition. So, along with Richard, they produced turkey (a breast), anadama bread, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, stuffing, peas & carrots, gravy, cranberry sauce, and apple, berry cobbler.

Here are some photos.

We missed you all but it is nice to know that the men in your family are so skilled in the kitchen. Aren’t the leftovers great?

Sorry to hear about your setback, but I hope you’re feeling better now. Let me know if there’s anything you need (though it looks like your guys are extremely capable!)

I am definitely better. You can tell from my return to blogging, which requires a certain amount of sitting — even if you blog short like I do.
